About our Social Protection and Humanitarian work

Ethiopia operates one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest social protection systems, spanning rural and urban safety nets, school feeding, health insurance, disability and elderly care, and emergency cash transfers — vital engines for building resilience, safeguarding human capital, and breaking cycles of food insecurity.

BAN-DRCE is a trusted research and evaluation partner within this ecosystem, working alongside government, implementing partners, academia, the UN, and donor stakeholders. We deliver real-time, data-driven, policy- and action-oriented evidence, using rigorous field tools and evaluation designs to help clients target resources effectively and measure impact for the marginalized youth and women benefiting from safety net programs.

Our Approach & Methodology

To answer the hardest question in development work — what actually works, for whom, and why — BAN-DRCE applies a range of rigorous impact evaluation designs, selected to fit each program’s context, ethics, and data constraints.

We deploy state-of-the-art tools and methods, including randomized controlled trial design and implementation; quasi-experimental evaluation tools such as difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, and before-and-after evaluation; system assessment; technical support; policy review; capacity development; and mixed-method evaluation and triangulation.
